Kevin Ball | 1 gifset per season - season 1
I think that generally many fans are losing focus here. I don’t want to be cynical or anything but I do kind of feel that this is a distraction of sorts and it comes in the summer, months before the new show airs, so they will have a lot of time to make more positive interviews and still have their scapegoat (aka klaroline fandom) in case the new show fails.
But the thing here is simple. The actors have every right to express their personal opinions over a subject. Daniel Gillies for example is a 37 year old male that has no idea of what shipping is AND from what I have seen he watches quality shows like the Sopranos, Game of Thrones etc. I am willing to bet that he hasn’t watched TVD once! (Smart man!) He praises Julie Plec and he should because she has created the role of Elijah and that has promoted him as an actor. He would be ungrateful if he didn’t and in his eyes when it comes to a show there are more important things that shipping. I am with him but that also depends on the writing of a show. And here we are having a conundrum. Plec is writing the new show so it feels like an one way shipping street if you ask me.
The point here is that everyone is entitled to have their opinions. It is ok to express them too.
There is no need to insult or attack the actors or even the writers. Not as persons. You can judge their work abilities since they are publicizing their works.
I won’t say anything bad for Julie Plec as a person. Never did, never will.
But I can’t say the same for her WRITING!
That is my issue and that is where I personally believe the focus should be. And yet coincidentally things happen that aim to distract us from that? Wow, I can’t find the reason why something like that would happen! (You can’t see me but I am rolling my eyes here!)
People keep talking about the klaroline fandom like it is the major problem of the new series. It is like they have forgotten about PR isn’t? Well guess what…I doubt they have! Truth is that for example I believe that both Morgan and Gillies cringe with the baby plot…every serious adult would. Why? Because it is cheap teenage family drama of the worse sort. It has gaping plot holes all over it. It goes against the genre they are aiming at. It is promoting simplistic drama with some redundant wow effects and that is it. No depth…no chance to develop your artistic talent…nothing…nada…ziltch…
Maybe the actors would want to play in something that would include more things that just “shipping” but unfortunately this is exactly what they have signed for and trust me they KNOW IT and they are trying to do damage control. How? Divert the attention from the writing…make more viewers target some shippers…have them attack each other and forget the fact that the plots and the writing are awful! Then have some misleading promos and posters, count on the TVD fanbase and hope for the best all against hope.
Because THEY ALL KNOW that they are going to air against SERIOUS shows with SOLID writings and also established fandoms.
We are talking about SHIELD AND NCIS here. We are talking about CBS and ABC here. No teenage drama…no disrespecting the audience…shows that can attract teens and adults and entertain them in the right way.
So don’t get so upset. Don’t focus on the personal opinions of the actors so much…focus on the writing and on the show. See if you can follow something like that or not. If you can then try to have some fun and enjoy it. If not get out there and see what show fits you.Personally I was expecting like CRAZY for Whedon’s new show to arrive BEFORE I saw that it was going to air against the Originals. Now I am going to follow that. I am happy for it and I can’t wait.
I am still a klaroline shipper and a klaus one (the one we saw in season 2 and in the first part of season 3 actually) but I have stopped watching TVD ever since 4x20 and I won’t follow the spin-off either. Why? Because the WRITING is TERRIBLE. Simple as that. Because everyone is entitled to have their opinions and many will try to distract the audience and make them believe that this is all because of shipping but guess what!
You cannot pass dirt for diamonds just by pointing your finger in another direction. The audience will judge your product for what exactly is. And thankfully tv land is a big place that has a looot of options.
In the end everyone can be happy. Let us try that!
I live in a world where the writers make out that Damon doing everything in his power to steal his brothers girl whilst his brother is off sacrificing his life for him is something worth supporting him for. That when the very same girl rejects him and tells him that she loves his brother (who she was originally with anyway before his stook his beak in) is supposedly “the tragedy of damon”. This story is the tragedy of Stefan Salvatore because he has a brother who is a piece of shit basically
I think the finale proved that Klaus is a much better man than Damon will ever be. At least he let Caroline go and respected her choice to be with Tyler, even though he loves Caroline. To me, that is what a real man does. Something Damon will never do because he’s too damn selfish.
Hit me up with a request, an image, or a lyric/quote. I’ll do my best to do a graphic for you. Just so you know, most of my graphics start out as desktops, and I crop and move around to fit whatever size I need, so you can always request a desktop version of what I do. I’ll probably have it for you.
You can either comment here or inbox me. I’m good with either.
Any takers?
I highly doubt you’re the only one to think that Peter is a much sexier werewolf than Alcide.
im going to start shipping Klefoline does this make sense? lol Klaus, Stefan, and Caroline?
Klefaroline. And welcome to the ship. ;-)
injomospants replied to your post: Aaaand…
paul does like matt’s pretty eyes.
Apparently!
plot twist: the doctors name is really doug dimmadome, owner of the dimmsdale dimmadome
Am I the only one who thinks that in that group hug, when we get the long shot, it looks like Stefan is patting Matt’s ass?
Yes, I’m just trying to ignore the plot holes and blatent suck and general wtfuckery that my dashboard has been telling me this episode was.
So when I predicted earlier today that Stefan would find out Silas was an ancestor… I wasn’t actually off base? Bwahahahahaha!
